This is an emerging need for India as we approach the higher vehicle density. I came across an interesting book on this subject. you might want to take a look at www.roadsafety.in

What is the reason for overtaking vehicles causing agony to the oncoming traffic?

Answer:- Sheer madness, thoughtless selfishness, impatience, imaginary heroism( as if people around him will think that he is a kinda hero).

solution: Catch these people and take them to cholavaram race course and compel them to ride their mobike at 130kms for 10 rounds failing which 3 months imprisonment. That will take their wits out .

Very true. The situation is the same in most indian cities. Police says to cross roads at Zebra crossings? Where are they? And even if they are, pedestrians hardly have the priority, as the case is in most countries. In many europian couintries, the traffic halts even if you step in a zebra crossing. In out nation, people will very much run you over. Indians have no civic sense.

I hope this turns out to be like "One small step... one giant step for the Madras people". Strict Rules, laws, better roads and education...education...education. Thats all we need for the moment.
I wish companies like TCS, Wipro and Infy takes up some responsibility by funding some local projects. They have got lots of money.
